From our foothill camp we are drumming out the programme of the first festival day-Thursday’s unofficial start of this year’s magic meeting. The gates of the transcendent planet called Open Air Music Festival “TRUTNOV 87-09“will open on Thursday 20/08 at 17:00. The festival will then be started at 19:00 on the main stage in the rhythm of Pavel Fajt`s drums. The festival will be officially started on Friday at 14:00 with resounding shaman drums of Big City Indians, performing in an “ecumenical” formation of people from America and Austria. And to keep the style, the festival’s main stage will close on Sunday midnight under the drums of Tam-Tam Batucada. However, even after that the programme will continue on both other stages under Monday morning, mainly in the underground pub tent. Take care then and look after your bodies and souls.

Despite the fact that we are not in favour of radical changes, unless being forced by matters beyond our control (such as moving the premises, complete cancellation etc), one such change is coming this year. Following last year’s extension of the second stage we are extending our magic lands even further. This was made possible thanks to the building company A&K, who is an owner of the surrounding land. The newly created area will accommodate the underground stage in the pub tent, which will be now three times bigger, as well as offering a great view of the festival city and the mountains. The stage will be living its own independent life, just like a genuine underground ghetto.

Even thou this band is well known to Czech audience, it has already become one of the most controversial bands of this year’s magic meeting. For some this is a commercial formation, for others subject of praising. They are undoubtedly loved by the mass media. The Richard Krajčo (who is also either loved or hated by the people) with his gang of good musicians are sometimes playing soft pop aimed at the mass taste that is unbearable for some, but sometimes they can become harder and offer songs that can not leave their followers without reaction. It can not be denied that the band can well use their spark and is wittiness to entertain themselves and audience alike with ease and lightness. The musicians are experienced and funny and the band often offers very good lyrics, which are however sometimes spoiled by the pop sounds. But not always! Have you ever heard Balkan brass band with a strong Ostrava (a North Moravian mining region) dialect that only Kryštof can perform…?!

The Cavalera brothers family tribe in Trutnov! The Cavalera Conspiracy together with an American band Pro-Pain are going to spend a few days with us.

together with the much welcomed start of the holiday, summer scented with blossomy grasses and herbs and full of purling rivers, streams and creeks, we are drumming out towards the souls and ears of many a warrior and squaw the names of some of the last tribe formations coming from the far lands to spice up our meeting with some hard rhythms. Our guest tee-pee will welcome two formations playing hard music. Their vibrations will please the good giant of the mountains – Krakonoš – whose pots shall be jumping up on his stove. We believe that in spite of the fact that your bodies will suffer when you leave the camp on Monday, following the marathon of music, your mind and soul will be lifted up, refreshed and satisfied almost to the state of nirvana.

We are introducing one of the main stars–Primal Scream are coming!
19/06/2009The smoke signals are letting you know that one of the main tribes visiting this year’s festival, Primal Scream from the good old Scotland, are coming! But for just a short visit, they have not visited our lands since the memorable gig in 1994, which makes it long fifteen years. They are going to spend two days in our foothill camp and we shall lit sacred fires to welcome this cult band with dignity.

The Parlor Mob, the new American Led Zeppelin, are coming, along with other overseas bands, one of which is coming by train from the far Siberia
8/5/2009At the start of the love and green grass month and on the anniversary day of Europe’s liberation from the intruders in Nazi uniforms we can gladly drum out into the vast meadows, low lands and mountains the names of the first confirmed overseas bands. An American band The Parlor Mob are coming, closely followed by the sharp Tagada Jones from Brittany, Lord Bishop, a self-proclaimed representative of sex rock, ethnic Vedan Kolod from Russia and Big City Indians with their Red Indian drumming rhythms. Of course that these bands are just the first swallows. This year’s plotters´ meeting under the mountains will welcome more foreign bands than in the past, and together with domestic bands they will create an interconnected line of non-main-stream programme.

After the night of St. Phillip and James, full of great fires and burning of evil ghosts, that was followed by May Day symbolizing the spring we are drumming out a few rhythms related to the opening of the plotters´ tribe meeting. Once again, this year we are going to start on Thursday the 20th August in the evening. The paths towards trees and good grasses in our under-mountain camp will be open from 5PM, at the time of sun’s departure. Thursday’s evenings are special and outstanding. They bring a great energy wave that is becoming real and stronger through your presence. These evenings are defined by long concerts, and also by the peace, harmony of souls and friendly meetings under the aura of the expectation and excitement of the days to come. Those who have not experienced this feeling can ask those who have to describe it during long nights by the tribe fires…

The last traces of snow are disappearing, changing into water that feeds the creeks of our foothill land. In the month of green grass and a week before the St. Phillip and Jacob night of great fires, burning of evil ghosts and spring celebrating May Day, we are drumming out into the vast fields, foothills, mountains and flat lands: This year’s Open Air Music Festival “TRUTNOV 87-09“ is taking place on 20-23 August 2009. It will be dedicated to Jan Palach, Jan Zajíc, Ryszard Siwiec and Master Jan Hus, with a subtitle “To Geronimo and all people of American Woodstocku ´69.” Furthermore, even this year we managed to preserve our traditional premises “Na Bojišti“.
